Aug 11, 11:30 AM: Family Storytime at South San Francisco Library
South San Francisco Public Library is honored to feature celebrated children's author Sophia N. Lee as our guest host for this week's Family Storytime!
Join us at 11:30 a.m. to meet Ms. Lee and be the first to hear her newest picture book, Lolo's Sari-Sari Store, read by the author herself.

Pre-order Lolo’s Sari-sari Store!
We’re so happy to have Bel Canto Books as our pre-order partner for the launch of our book Lolo’s Sari-sari Store, written by me and illustrated by the fantastic Christine Almeda! Every pre-order comes with a special sari-sari store book plate signed by me and Christine, along with other pre-order goodies which we’ll be revealing soon.
This book is about building community and finding ways to belong in new places told through a Filipino lens, inspired by memories of the sari-sari store my family had when I was growing up.

Celebrate Holding On with us at Bel Canto Books!
We’re so excited to partner with the amazing @belcantobooks for a pre-order campaign and West Coast book launch of our picturebook Holding On, a Filipino kidlit story about a girl and her Lola and the many ways they hold on to what they love.

New book announcement: Lolo’s Sari-sari Store is coming!
I’m so excited to share that I have another story book dream coming true! Lolo’s Sari-sari Store, written by me and illustrated by Filipino-American artist Christine Almeda, is a tribute to all the warm afternoons spent manning our old sari-sari store with my cousins. This place was where we learned about work, kindness, and life.

***Holding On cover reveal and feature on Mr. Schu Reads!
Holding On is about a young girl who spends song-filled summers with her music-loving grandmother in the Philippines, but when her beloved Lola starts slipping into silence and stillness, the girl helps her grandmother hold on with music and the joyful memories the songs bring.

Writing: Life - writing from home and away from it
Sharing this recording of a panel I did with the extremely talented author and illustrator Isabel Roxas and awesome Professor of Literature Danilo Baylen. We talked about our creative journeys, the ups and downs of creating work from inside and outside the Philippines, and some of the things we've learned along the way.

Join me for Filipino Story Time!
Heads up! I’ll be doing online story time and reading my latest picture book Soaring Saturdays on the Bergenfield Library Facebook Page this Saturday, December 12, 2020, at 10 AM EST.

Does it matter if you know why?
This evening, my mom, dad, and I went to watch my brother's choir (the Ateneo College Glee Club) in concert. It was their return concert after touring Europe for over a month, mainly because they competed for the title in the European Grand Prix.
